The position is an individual contributor role responsible for evaluating, negotiating, measuring, and managing vendor relationships for AbbVie. The role involves overseeing medium-scale vendor transactions, leading negotiations, and ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion of agreements. The individual will actively manage supplier categories and relationships, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and performance criteria.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, measure, and manage vendors.
  • Lead negotiations and drive transactions to completion on time and on budget.
  • Manage supplier categories and supplier relationships, including sourcing responsibility.
  • Negotiate and execute one-off agreements and statements of work as requested by management.
  • Collaborate with Outsourcing Project Managers for clinical trial-related services.
  • Draft initial documents and originate redlines to Legal after receiving documents from counterparties.
  • Review and analyze KPIs/metrics, holding vendors accountable to performance criteria.
  • Investigate vendor performance issues and develop solutions for compliance.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to the larger organization.
  • Establish and maintain consistent practices and policies related to vendor activities.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5-8 years of combined experience in legal, strategy, or financial analysis required.
  • Preferred experience in Pharmaceutical, Licensing, CRO, or Legal fields.
  • Understanding of outsourcing processes and corporate purchasing standards.
  • Knowledge of AbbVie organization, pipeline, processes, and culture beneficial.
  • Ability to operate in a global environment without direct reporting authority.
  • Emerging leadership skills with broad business responsibility.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to manage cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand scientific and financial data.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external partnerships.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting key information to management.
  • High degree of customer focus.
