About The Position

This position oversees the Mechanic Shop, managing all leadership team members responsible for daily shop operations. The role provides direction, supervises employees, and ensures all goals are met while maintaining high-quality service standards in preparing vehicles for sale. Effectively leads the team at the location, setting an example through behavior and championing Cox/Manheim values. Ensures that all processes and services comply with Cox guidelines, specifications, and requirements. Determines allocation and staffing levels to meet all customer quality control and completion commitments, as well as maximize the profitability of the mechanic shop. Ensures shops adhere to and maintain Manheim defined standard operations, procedures, factory standards, and guidelines. Communicates, discusses, and resolves goals, results, and issues with the location and leadership. Ensures workflows and activities are optimized to drive departmental efficiency and operational excellence, partnering with functions such as LDM initiatives. Ensures customer satisfaction through the direction of technicians/shop staff in performing high‑quality maintenance and repair work. Conducts root‑cause analysis to support process improvements aligned with short‑ and long‑term business goals. Ensures all services are accounted for and appropriately charged against vehicles. Maintains and develops the workforce and their professional and technical knowledge by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Mentors and coaches technicians to support overall growth and development of talent. Counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; plans, monitors, and evaluates job performance accordingly. Visibly demonstrates a commitment to safety by following all safety and health procedures and modeling Cox values and behaviors. Works in cooperation with safety leadership to support all safety activities aligned with Cox Safety Excellence. Enforces all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct. Partners with various market‑level support teams (e.g., Finance, HR, Security, Safety) to ensure effective and efficient operational processes that align with company objectives, strategies, and high‑quality customer service and support. Manages the purchase of maintenance equipment, materials, and supplies for the mechanic shop. Controls the use and consumption of supplies utilized in the shop. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience o High School Diploma and 11 years of relevant experience in related field. ~OR~ Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of relevant experience in a related field and 1 year of experience in a leadership role ~OR~ Master’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in related field. ~OR~ Ph.D and 2 years of relevant experience in the related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of Management and Supervisory/Leadership Experience.
  • Effective Client Servicing
  • Effective communication and interaction skills.
  • Effective management and excellent organizational skills.
  • Experienced in computer and software knowledge.
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmissions.
  • Ability to lift 1-30 pounds (light hand tools, etc.).
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certification(s) preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of mechanic and/or vehicle repair experience.
  • Prior Auction experience preferred.
