About The Position

Google Client Services, an entity within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, manages the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy in the United States. The U.S. Federal Affairs team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators, and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, U.S. Federal Affairs seeks to identify key policy issues, understand others' views and opinions, and distill and the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the Internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect. In this role, you will help to develop and execute strategies for advancing Google's engagement with the U.S. Administration on critical tech policies. You will focus on building trusted relationships with political stakeholders. Your primary goal will be to shape tech policy discussions and regulatory frameworks that impact Google's business. You will not only advocate for Google, but also bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our direction. You will coordinate with cross-functional partners to develop and execute a comprehensive public policy outreach strategy, including affirmative policy initiatives and external narratives to effectively communicate complex technology policy issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Government, Public Affairs or a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
  • 10 years of experience working in public affairs, political communications, or political campaigns, or within government.

Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach to the U.S. executive branch to advance Google's public policy objectives regarding tech policy with the primary goal of promoting tech policy that supports Google's business strategy.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with political stakeholders and help educate them on Google's products and policy priorities.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with teams across Google's Public Policy (GAPP) and product areas to align on policy objectives.
  • Support Google's leadership in meetings, briefings, and other engagements with government officials.
  • Develop and execute outreach plans, initiatives, and strategy, and track regulatory proposals to inform our approach and deliver policy outcomes for the business.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $182,000-$249,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
