Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Trauma Program Manager. The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) provides leadership for Trauma Services and must show evidence of educational preparedness, 36 hours of trauma-related continuing education (CE) during the verification cycle, and clinical experience in the care of the injured patient. The TPM reports directly to the Service Line Director of the Emergency Department and Trauma Services, with a dotted line to the Trauma Medical Director, partnering with them to set beneficial goals for the Trauma Program.

  • Assumes the day-to-day responsibility for process and performance duties as they pertain to nursing and ancillary personnel.
  • Assists the Trauma Medical Director in carrying out the same functions for the physicians.
  • Organizes services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to the care of the injured patient.
  • Defines, accesses, and empowers other personnel to meet optimal care standards.
  • Participates in various aspects of the Trauma Program, depending upon hospital structure, personnel support, available resources, and evolving needs of a developing Trauma Program.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates systems and programs directed toward the provision of quality services for trauma patients from a multi-disciplinary perspective throughout the continuum of care.
  • Minimum: BSN required.
  • Minimum: Current Registered Nurse in California.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • One of the following: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Advanced Trauma Care Nursing (ATCN), or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Coordinator.
  • Preferred: MSN preferred.
