About The Position

The Transportation Routing Manager at Richmond Public Schools is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of pupil transportation routes and schedules. Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience managing a team.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel applications, internet, and email applications required.
  • Efficient in the use of Tyler Technology Traversa Software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train, manage, and support routing staff responsible for designing and managing school bus routes.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and manage scheduling and timekeeping of direct reports.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to secure reliable transportation vendors and services.
  • Analyze and adjust routes for efficiency based on various factors such as student enrollment and road closures.
  • Provide stakeholders with updated stop information and route sheets as changes occur.
  • Coordinate with IT to verify student data and maintain routing records and maps.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Serve as a contact for vendors, school staff, parents, and guardians regarding routes and schedules.
  • Provide training on route management software as needed.
  • Generate reports on transportation costs, student ridership, and other metrics.
  • Oversee the tabulation of mileage and student count data for submission to the Virginia Department of Education.
  • Process bus stop and field trip requests in a timely manner.
  • Engage in professional growth by staying current with literature and research findings.
