About the position

The Manager, Transportation Operations, is responsible for ensuring efficient transportation of inbound and outbound goods, including raw materials, finished goods, marketing materials, and samples across various supply chains. This role focuses on cost and service improvements, developing partnerships, and implementing process enhancements. Strong leadership, analytical, and collaboration skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee domestic and international transportation for all supply chains, including raw materials and finished goods.
  • Drive cost and service improvement programs, focusing on metrics like On Time Delivery, Cost Improvement and Freight Spend vs. Budget.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with external service providers, addressing service gaps.
  • Lead team development and succession planning.
  • Implement E2E Strategy & Process Improvements, standardizing processes and optimizing order entry, appointment setting, and vendor profiles.
  • Support Team Leads and Analysts in goal setting, performance management, and development.
  • Propose automation solutions to improve resource effectiveness, reduce cycle times, and minimize defects.
  • Support transformation projects by defining process requirements and enhancing customer experience.
  • Analyze transportation supply chain requirements and develop innovative solutions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for sites and logistics providers, resolving shipment flow issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners, including Sourcing, Planning, Manufacturing, and Carriers, to meet transportation metrics.
  • Lead operational activities for carrier bids and vendor management, ensuring metric alignment.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive process improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with business partners and process owners to enhance transportation services, which includes operations, freight management, compliance, claims, freight payment, import/export, and handling deviations.
  • Coordinate track & trace/exception management and conduct operational analytics to drive efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation operations or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced functions.
  • Experience with data analytics to analyze and interpret data, identifying operational opportunities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and navigating different hierarchical levels while fostering collaboration and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven track record of successfully managing transportation operations and delivering results.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to transportation.
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on driving profitability and growth.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Proven success in optimizing business processes using Data & Analytics tools.
  • Experience with SAP, BW, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Qlik, or other data software.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (e.g., Blue Yonder, Oracle) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP); TMS implementation experience is a plus.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with project management tools.
  • Six Sigma/Process Excellence training or certification.
  • APICS Certification.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and adapt to different cultures.
