About The Position

The Manager, Technical Accounting at Salesforce will collaborate with various teams within the Finance function and the broader business to create effective, GAAP-compliant solutions for complex technical accounting and SEC Reporting issues. This role requires a strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC Reporting standards, along with the ability to research and document conclusions for unique transactions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and possess excellent communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
  • CPA strongly desired.
  • 5+ years of combined Big 4 and industry experience, with relevant experience in financial statement review and technical accounting research.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Project management skills including planning, task assignment, status tracking, and reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to interpret and audit complex spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex agreements and perform independent accounting research to determine applicable US GAAP standards.
  • Diagnose accounting and financial reporting outcomes and document conclusions in memos and accounting policy updates.
  • Research accounting questions raised by the controllership and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop solutions.
  • Review the work of teammates and provide coaching and training to junior personnel.
  • Engage with external auditors to proactively address material accounting and financial reporting conclusions.
  • Build and maintain documentation that meets SOX control requirements, developing new controls as necessary.
  • Partner with various groups to assess accounting and reporting implications of transactions.
  • Support financial reporting functions by reviewing supporting schedules for public filings.
  • Coordinate with external accounting and valuation experts when significant technical expertise is required.
