Manager - Teaching and Learning plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Office of Teaching and Learning by overseeing office allocations, grant funding, and vendor contracts. This position serves as a liaison between the Office of Teaching and Learning and other fiscally related offices, ensuring seamless coordination and communication. The Manager works closely with academic content teams to inform decision-making through financial analysis, performance monitoring, and quarterly reporting. Success in this role requires strong financial expertise, organizational leadership, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

  • Provides ongoing consultation and coaching to the Executive Director, district office staff, and school-based staff to ensure the effective implementation of teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Supports the approval process for requisitions, PSTARs, and staff payroll.
  • Participates in the strategic budgeting process for district offices and schools.
  • Provides reporting and data analysis support to staff across the Academic Office.
  • Manages multiple competitively awarded grants.
  • Coordinates procurement for the Office of Teaching and Learning, including the strategy and review of supplemental materials, contract recommendations, and preparation of written requests for the Board of Commissioners.
  • Supports the Office of Teaching and Learning leadership in effective fiscal management and record-keeping.
  • Collaborates with teams from multiple offices to advance teaching and learning throughout the district.
  • Represents City Schools at internal and external meetings and conferences.
  • Stays informed on best practices in teaching and learning, as well as current district, state, and federal policies or legislation; provides relevant recommendations and feedback on policy updates.
  • Coordinates special programs and initiatives aligned with the district's strategic priorities.
  • Supports Office of Teaching and Learning staff with using district operational platforms (e.g., Fusion, Oracle).
  • Uses resources efficiently to complete work, communicates progress proactively, contributes as a team member, and exercises sound judgment to resolve sensitive matters.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, administrative regulations, and professional standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in fiscal management, project management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least eight years of relevant full-time professional experience in fiscal management, project management, or a related field.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize changing assignments, organize a busy workload, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure, while exercising excellent attention to detail.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in fostering effective communication and coordination among staff to support program activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using technical computer applications such as electronic databases, financial platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
  • Fosters effective communication and coordination of program activities with staff.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform program decisions aligned with research-based practices and district priorities.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate effective presentations and written work products.

  • Master's degree preferred.
