About The Position

The Tax Manager will report to and assist the Senior Tax Manager in the preparation and review of diverse US and Canadian indirect tax filings including Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax and Canadian GST/PST returns, to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. On a typical day you will: Oversee the preparation, compilation and transmission of indirect tax data to Otis’s third-party tax compliance vendor, (EY). Review the accuracy of sales and use taxes charged to construction project job costs and make the necessary tax adjustments as required. Assist with the preparation of tax liability general ledger account reconciliations, research variances and prepare journal entries for adjustments. Compile tax information as required for the filing of tax affidavits. Work collaboratively with other tax team members to gather the financial and tax data necessary to respond to auditor information requests. Provide overall management and support for business license filings. Review and approve customer exemption certificates and prepare and issue Otis’s exemption certificates to suppliers. Perform the necessary tax research to accurately respond to field personnel tax inquiries. Assist the tax team in the compilation of data necessary to support tax planning strategies which reduce or mitigate tax. Support the development and improvement of tax compliance processes.

Requirements

  • Otis is seeking a Tax Manager who is solution-oriented and creative with a strong work ethic, good oral and written communication skills and a desire to work in a high-performing team environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 3-5 years of experience in public accounting or Fortune 500 corporations and working knowledge of Sales, Use and Property tax concepts.
  • strong technical accounting skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI or other BI tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific knowledge of JDE Financial system application is desirable
