About The Position

Walmart is looking to hire a Manager, Tax - Indirect Tax Planning expert that will, among other things, serve as a liaison with our business partners advising on indirect tax issues that may arise from our purchasing activities. This role will also manage sales and use tax processes that will support the tax health of the company. The ideal candidate will have no less than four years of sales, use, and excise tax experience and have familiarity with tax engine software and ERP systems. About Indirect Tax at Walmart The Indirect Tax team at Walmart is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction taxes charged to customers and members shopping online and at our over 10,000 brick-and-mortar Walmart and Sam's Club global locations. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in indirect tax
  • Experience at global companies in retail and ecommerce industries
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, data tools, and tax software designed for corporate scale
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 2 years' experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area OR 4 years' experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Developing partnerships - Develop relationships with business operations and becoming the resident tax-expert to assist with their needs
  • Tax research - Interpret state and local indirect tax laws to identify strategies to minimize tax liability
  • Anticipating and managing change - Support new business activities to analyze and interpret indirect tax impacts
  • Teamwork - Provide support to other members of the Indirect Tax team on areas such as those related to indirect tax issues and new laws and/or regulations
  • Value creation - Review historical purchases to identify sales and use tax refund opportunities
