About The Position

This role leads tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities related to the family office investment funds, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and fund of funds structures. The position combines deep partnership tax knowledge with investment focused analysis, supporting pass through entity filings, tax basis tracking, and K 1 review across a broad range of investment vehicles. The role also contributes to broader tax planning and research efforts involving individuals, trusts, and charitable entities.

  • 6+ years of experience in advanced partnership taxation or investment funds.
  • Strong understanding of Subchapter K (704(b), 704(c), 734,743), pass-through entities, and fund-level allocations.
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Experience reviewing partnership agreements, side letters, and subscription documents
  • Demonstrates discretion, integrity, and expertise while serving as a trusted advisor to principals and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical tax leadership and analysis for investment fund activities, support tax planning strategies, and collaborate with internal partners to ensure accurate compliance and thoughtful advisory outcomes.
  • Perform reviews partnership work papers, allocations, and tax filings prepared by junior staff.
  • Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analyses for a variety of hedge fund , private equity, and fund-of-funds and their affiliates
  • Research, monitor , and assess upstream impact on individuals, trusts, and foundations .
  • Develop planning ideas to negate negative outcomes for upstream investors
  • Monitor tax-sensitive issues such as UBTI, ECI, PFIC, and foreign reporting obligations (e.g., Forms 8865, 5471, 8938).
  • Support the Managing Director, Tax – Funds in fund structuring discussions, reviewing allocation models, waterfall provisions, and side letters as part of due diligence for investment opportunities.
  • Conduct tax research on issues related to investment products and advise the investment services team on strategic tax planning.
  • Stay current with tax law changes relevant to funds, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals
  • Support the development and documentation of tax planning strategies tailored to investment entities.
  • Coordinate with investment, legal, accounting, and philanthropic services teams to gather required data for tax filings and planning.
  • Assist in data compilation and analysis to support tax audits and internal reporting.
  • Participate in special projects related to new fund launches, transactions, or restructuring efforts.
