About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Operating Systems Manager to oversee the programming, administration, and support activities for our enterprise's operating systems across multiple platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of operating systems and foundational architecture, along with accountability for software selection, system development, and maintenance to enhance efficiencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of IT work experience, including team management in systems engineering, development, administration, and support.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring supervisors and technical staff.
• Proven ability to work on multiple, complex projects as a project leader and subject matter expert.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with IT and user communities.
• Experience with reporting to senior-level management, such as CIOs or Departmental IT Executives.

Responsibilities

• Manage programming, administration, and support activities for enterprise operating systems.
• Select and develop operating systems software, ensuring continued maintenance and improved efficiencies.
• Develop departmental standards and procedures, including systems programming standards and program documentation requirements.
• Define and monitor multiple projects, providing technical and administrative supervision.
• Coordinate activities with IT and user community members to implement new software effectively.
• Provide technical consultation and support to users and IT staff.
• Mentor and manage supervisors, project leads, and technical staff.
• Report to senior management, frequently interfacing with CIOs, CTOs, and other IT executives.
