About The Position

The Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering 2 at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading a team of Supplier Performance Field Engineers on the west coast, ensuring the quality performance of suppliers across various commodity types. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams to provide strategic leadership and preventive solutions for quality assurance in procured materials and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality management, supplier oversight, and team leadership, with a focus on continuous improvement and employee development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, technical, manufacturing, operations program management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 9 years of industry experience in Program or Project Management, Quality, Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering.
  • Experience in source inspection, FAI, supplier audits, and data-driven process improvements.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and experience in SAP.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a diverse technical team.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, industrial specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Experience with RCCA and problem-solving in supplier management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in an engineering or management field, preferably in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 2 or more years of experience managing and/or leading teams.
  • Defense Industry experience in roles such as Program or Project Manager, Quality Manager, or Supplier Quality Manager.
  • ASQ CQE/CQM certification, Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Familiarity with J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-STD-883, GD&T, RCCA, and FAI AS9102 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a supplier quality field engineering team overseeing supplier quality performance across various commodity types.
  • Lead assessments during First Article Inspection and customer source inspections to meet sector requirements.
  • Manage audit schedules and ensure completion to satisfaction, evaluating suppliers' processes and compliance.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify improvement opportunities with suppliers.
  • Develop strategies to enhance supplier quality performance and create efficiencies within the organization.
  • Promote professional development and foster a collaborative culture within the Supplier Quality team.
  • Understand various manufacturing and test processes to support suppliers and develop personnel.
