Responsibilities

  • Supervises activities of journeyman wireman, carpenters and/or production teams focused on substation construction activities.
  • Is accountable for the performance and results of a team.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Provides subject matter guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
  • Manages a team of professional and or technical represented staff responsible for operational work to ensure the safe, timely and efficient completion of work efforts relating to the construction, operation, maintenance and emergency restoration of the electric transmission and distribution system.
  • Ensures daily management of the team, ensuring that all relevant goals, standards/procedures are followed.
  • Ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved.
  • Contributes to execution of PGE power delivery and corporate capital investment plans, as well as integrated grid strategies.
  • Assists with annual operations and maintenance plans, policies, goals, and objectives of the area.
  • Implements procedures and standards that support the corporate strategic direction and follow the industry best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with procedures and functional criteria.
  • Partners with other peer leaders to develop and refine PGE's Construction Quality Assurance and Operations and Maintenance programs.
  • Serves as a liaison between technicians, engineering, and internal/external customers.
  • Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met.
  • Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for team, partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation, and selection processes.
  • Reviews organizational development needs and training strategies to determine required learning and development outcomes for the team.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering, construction management or other related field or equivalent applicable union technical/operational experience.
  • Prefer eight or more years in the utility industry with five years in a related field, including management/supervisory or other leadership experience.
