About The Position

This position provides strategic leadership and operational direction for the engineering function, ensuring effective processes, compliance with standards and policies, and the development of talent to drive organizational goals and operational excellence. Leads the strategy and operations of the engineering group to ensure effective practices, compliance with corporate policies, and achievement of business objectives. Monitors substation engineering projects and review technical specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with electrical standards, reliability requirements, safety regulations, and utility guidelines; supporting efficient design and uninterrupted power delivery. Manages and develops talent through leadership supervision, performance plans, coaching, and succession planning, fostering engagement, collaboration, and strategic integration. Drives process improvements and resource optimization to implement new initiatives, enhance efficiency, and guarantee quality and safety standards. Develops and manages departmental budgets to allocate resources effectively and meet operational and strategic targets. Defines, monitors, and analyzes KPIs and business metrics to identify trends, resolve critical issues, and drive continuous improvement. Leads, models and ensures consistent application of policies and regulatory standards across teams to support ethical operations and mitigate compliance risks. Leads and validates the planning and execution of restoration and emergency preparedness activities to strengthen operational resilience and response capacity. Assumes and oversees expanded duties aligned with organizational priorities and professional scope to drive departmental effectiveness and strategic alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree Engineering
  • 8 to 10 years of industry experience in a similar functional role within electrical engineering, with at least 3 years' overseeing employees directly, leading teams, budgets and projects in a supervisor role.
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations, teams, defining work plans and achieving departmental objectives.
  • Associate Engineer license issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
