The Manager, Student and Temporary Employment for the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago (Chicago Booth) plays a crucial role in organizing, executing, strategizing, creating, and implementing process improvements for various HR functions. This includes overseeing student employment, temporary employment, time and attendance management, and internal communications. The position requires collaboration with UChicago Grad and Chicago Booth peers to ensure compliance with the Graduate Student Union (GSU) contract. The manager is responsible for creating and distributing internal communications related to payroll, accruals, benefits, HR initiatives, and policies, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged. In this role, the manager will oversee all aspects of student employment at Chicago Booth, ensuring compliance with GSU regulations while managing the TA payment process and implementing necessary process improvements. The manager will also work closely with the Office of International Affairs to counsel international students and faculty members on work authorization, tax treaties, and visa limitations. Additionally, the manager will handle all temporary and part-time benefits ineligible (PTBI) employment, including recruitment, onboarding, and monitoring ERISA hours, while proactively working with supervisors to manage temporary employees effectively. The position involves tracking, analyzing, and reporting on payroll and overtime, collaborating with department heads to ensure accurate timekeeping and compliance. The manager will create ad-hoc reports and facilitate compliance processes for various employee categories, serving as a system expert for time-related issues. Training new time approvers and auditing hours for non-exempt employees are also key responsibilities. The manager will assist in office procurement, budget management, and special projects, while supporting staff hiring processes and maintaining HR data and records. Overall, this position is integral to the HR operations at Chicago Booth, ensuring efficient management of student and temporary employment functions.
