About The Position

The Structuring team assists in the development, structuring, and execution of renewable energy projects. This role demands a highly analytical individual with experience in renewable energy, finance, and energy markets. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive the strategic origination and development of projects. Employees in this role negotiate and execute complex structured transactions. This role works closely with front-line originators and potential counterparties to understand their needs and develop product structures to meet them. Individuals are responsible for developing the deal structure, oversee, guide, and negotiate the contract to be signed between NextEra and the counterparty. They are also responsible for managing the deal internally and navigating a rigorous vetting process to gain approval. This position final executes the structured transaction by gaining input from several different departments such as Tax, Legal, Credit, Accounting, and Risk Management.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or MBA or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy, finance, or energy markets.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and market dynamics within the renewable energy sector.
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 8+ years

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy storage solutions and technologies.
  • Certification or training in project management
  • Master's Degree
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Responsibilities

  • Support the structuring and negotiation of power purchase agreements (PPAs), financing agreements, and other project-related contracts.
  • Assist in conducting financial analysis, modeling, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential opportunities and trends within the renewable energy sector.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports, proposals, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal policies.
  • Communicates directly with potential customers and front-line originators to gain an understanding of customer needs to propose solutions, and/or negotiate deal structures and documents that meet those needs
  • Analyzes and develops different structures for the customer including risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified
  • Oversees, guides, and negotiates the contract and related documents that will be signed between the Company and the counterparty opportunities
  • Prepares presentations and other internal communications for senior leadership to guide and support the internal vetting process
  • Coordinates with internal departments involved in the transaction such as Tax, Legal, Credit, Accounting and Risk Management
  • Presents deal to senior leadership, seeking approval of the proposed deal structure
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
