About The Position
This position supervises, coordinates, plans, and manages the PIH Health Whittier Hospital Sterile Processing Department for sterilization, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and proper maintenance of sterile instruments and equipment. The SPD Manager develops a system to ensure instrumentation is available for surgeries and procedures in a timely manner. The manager is responsible for ensuring quality control throughout operations, including completion of sterilization, all quality check logs, cart exchanges and storage areas within Surgical Services. Surgical Services includes Surgery, Same Day Surgery, GI Lab, and additional areas within the hospital where sterile equipment and instruments may be used. The Sterile Processing Manager provides leadership and accountability for assigned operations and direct reports. He/she participates in the budget process and works to maintain financial strength. The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for hiring, counseling, coaching and the overall performance of all direct reports. This is a key position in the Department of Perioperative Services.
