About The Position

As a direct report to the Director, provides direction and monitors results of Staff Counsel, establishing long- and short-term business and litigation strategy and plans with the Leadership team. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization. Responsibilities Provides insights and analysis direction or indirectly on complex and wide range of information objectively uncovering critical issues and providing key insights for the business unit; directs or champions the development of new or innovative solutions. Provides timely and appropriate legal advice, counsel and leadership to Claims or other executive management on litigation matters. Takes a practical approach to establishing and improving work and litigation initiatives; keeps involved in the day-to-day operations of the law offices unit as required to drive strategy. Focusing on Customers/Business Partners builds relationships and shares learnings and insights with peers across the organization to capitalize on lessons learned and solutions. Fosters collaboration, partnership and communication to achieve department, client and company goals. Guides others in understanding and navigating internal networks and political relationships to drive success. Leads goal setting for the offices in collaboration with peers and other business leaders, aligning with business and litigation strategy. Builds and leads the building of high performing teams by integrating a diversity of skills and personalities and creating a shared purpose and culture of trust and transparency. Provides for the effective selection, engagement, development and balanced feedback, including corrective action when needed to team members to improve individual and organizational performance. Keeps current with market trends and demands. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from Accredited Law School
  • State Bar licensed attorney
  • 5+ years in practice of law, experience in roles in group practice litigation litigating Insurance related cases or with Insurance Company in Litigation leadership position
  • Experienced leader of attorneys
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of litigation strategy and execution for multiple lines of insurance
  • Embraces changes; invites feedback related to performance and deals constructively with criticism.
  • Proven track record of earning and keeping the trust of clients and colleagues
  • Persuades and influences within the company by presenting a strong case; explains things clearly, challenges ideas effectively and argues in favor of own point of view.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and focus on customers as shown though courage to pursue new and unprecedented opportunities.
  • Ability to synthesize and draw conclusions from large amounts of data; translating the data into actions and results.
  • Emotionally intelligent and self aware
