Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master's in Computer Science, speech technology, or related field.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in speech development and research, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in driving results.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead development of real-time speech processing pipeline: Voice Command detection, VAD (voice activity detection), ASR, TTS, noise suppression, echo cancellation, and keyword spotting.
  • Optimize ASR models (e.g., Whisper, Deepgram, Cerence, Sensory) for different voice commands.
  • Ensure tight integration with Gen AI systems and contextual agent workflows.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of speech scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers.
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for speech-related technologies in alignment with company goals.
  • Guide research and development efforts in speech recognition (ASR), speech-to-text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), speaker identification, and related areas.
  • Partner with firmware and hardware teams to fine-tune microphone array configuration and audio signal processing chain.
  • Establish evaluation metrics for ASR accuracy, latency, false acceptance rate (FAR), false rejection rate (FRR), and TTS quality.
