About The Position

The Manager, Special Projects is responsible for planning, managing, and executing regional strategy projects for APL Logistics across the Americas and EMEA. This role involves overseeing project resources to ensure successful implementation of operations that meet company and customer expectations. The position requires balancing multiple projects simultaneously while applying effective project management methodologies, such as Standard or Agile, to achieve project goals. The manager will also be responsible for the performance and development of direct reports, if applicable.

Requirements

• Proven experience in project management, preferably in a logistics or supply chain environment.
• Strong understanding of project cost management, schedule management, risk management, and resource management.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members and senior leadership.
• Experience in data analysis and business reporting to inform decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects in a matrixed environment by collaborating with subject matter experts across various functional teams.
• Utilize data to develop and optimize strategies and processes to enhance profits, efficiency, quality, and security while reducing costs.
• Prepare financial analyses for deliverables including market plans, scenario options, and process improvements.
• Develop and oversee project timelines from initiation to go-live and transition to ongoing operations.
• Estimate project costs and manage expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
• Define and evaluate project risks, creating risk management plans to mitigate or transfer risks.
• Provide project status reports that accurately assess project health for executive leadership.
• Integrate project documents with external customers and service providers to represent the project comprehensively.
• Manage relationships with regional operations management teams to collect data and implement strategies.
• Maintain a portfolio management tool to reflect project statuses and timelines.
