The L3Harris systems engineering department is seeking a site manager for an engineering team that designs and develops small space-based optical telescopes at its Wilmington, MA location. The successful candidate will perform day-to-day management of a small group of systems engineers, with the primary responsibility of ensuring that each employee has suitable work assignments and opportunities for growth and advancement. This role is critical in fostering a collaborative environment where team members can thrive and contribute effectively to the projects at hand. Management duties will include workforce planning, developing and managing job requisitions, and hiring new talent to strengthen the team. The manager will also be responsible for empowering employees, leading and motivating teams, and fostering collaboration among team members. In addition to management responsibilities, the successful candidate will engage in technical responsibilities that include contributions to one or more programs and proposal development. This dual focus on management and technical contributions is essential for the success of the engineering team and the projects they undertake. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to perform technical analysis, manage specifications, and generate design review and technical documents. They will support product testing and design verification, requirements sell-off, and end item data package generation efforts. Experience supporting large space programs across the full system lifecycle is highly desirable, as it will inform the candidate's approach to managing the engineering team and the projects they are involved in.
