About The Position

The Manager provides essential operational leadership and administrative support to the Southeast Texas Poison Center (SETPC), ensuring daily activities, staffing, and services meet regulatory, accreditation, and institutional standards. This role supports the Director and Medical Director by overseeing personnel management, policy implementation, quality improvement, providing education to stakeholders, and strategic initiatives. The Manager works independently with accountability for operational functions.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Three (3) years of related pharmacy experience OR Two (2) years of poison center experience and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas or able to obtain Texas license within 90 days of hire.

  • Diplomate of the American Board of Applied Toxicology

Responsibilities

  • Perform all call center duties of a Specialist in Poison Information I & II
  • Supervise and manage day-to-day call center operations of SETPC to ensure 24/7 coverage and workflow efficiency.
  • Oversee staff scheduling, shift coverage, and timekeeping
  • Support leadership in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Coordinate staffing during surges, emergencies, vacations, or vacancies.
  • Serves as liaison between staff and leadership for communication and workflow coordination.
  • Resolve service delivery barriers, including coordination with IT personnel for IT support.
  • Ensure completion of daily, monthly and quarterly audits
  • Provide backup coverage for telephone lines, as needed
  • Oversee licensing, credentialing, compliance training, travel, and file retention.
  • Develop and maintain adherence to departmental policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with UTMB policies and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with Director and Medical Director on goals and strategic planning.
  • Support and develop America’s Poison Centers accreditation-aligned quality improvement programs.
  • Identify and address quality improvement opportunities
  • Assist with budget planning and expense tracking.
  • Lead/support grants, surveys, and special initiatives.
  • Develop internal controls for monitoring and compliance.
  • Represent leadership in meetings, as assigned.
  • Provide education to stakeholders in service region as needed.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.
