About The Position

Modernizing Medicine is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager 2, Software Engineering to lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers in the design, development, and delivery of innovative healthcare technology solutions. This role requires a strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and a passion for building high-quality, scalable software that impacts patient care.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python) and web technologies.
3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, directly managing software engineers.
Proven experience with agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and scalable system design.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture.
Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.

Experience in the healthcare technology domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6-10 software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Drive the technical design, development, and implementation of complex software features and products, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
Collaborate closely with product management, UX/UI, and other engineering teams to define requirements, prioritize tasks, and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, estimation, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Conduct regular code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency, productivity, and software quality.
Manage individual performance, provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and support career development for team members.
Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall technical roadmap for the engineering organization.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing guidance and support to the team.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and applicability to Modernizing Medicine's products.
