About The Position

This role leads a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the core Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform that supports enterprise customers and internal teams. The Manager, Software Engineering (Platform IAM) will combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure authentication and authorization systems. This position involves collaborating across product, architecture, SRE, and engineering teams to define priorities, make architectural decisions, and drive operational excellence. You will recruit, mentor, and develop engineers while maintaining a culture of observability, quality, and accountability. This is a remote-first role that balances technical leadership with strategic team growth and operational oversight.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead managing teams focused on product platforms or SaaS infrastructure.
• Strong technical foundation in backend system development, debugging production issues, and making architectural decisions.
• Experience operating production systems, including on-call rotations, observability, and reliability practices.
• Proven ability to hire, retain, and develop engineering talent across different experience levels.
• Collaborative leadership skills, with experience communicating technical trade-offs to diverse audiences and aligning teams in complex environments.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, scalable system design, and distributed systems principles.
• Experience with Identity and Access Management systems is a plus but not required.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, ensuring high standards of technical excellence, collaboration, and career development.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of the IAM platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational discipline.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, architecture, and SRE, to align priorities and clarify requirements for platform initiatives.
• Drive operational excellence by embedding observability, monitoring, alerting, and reliability best practices into systems.
• Participate in hands-on coding, architecture reviews, and production troubleshooting as needed.
• Manage on-call responsibilities and ensure platform uptime and incident response readiness.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the team.
