The role of a Manager, Development is to lead teams of software developers to ship reliable code on a consistent basis. You will be responsible for overseeing teams of software developers in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software programs & applications. You will also collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to ensure that the software products meet the business objectives, security requirements, and customer needs. We are looking for a Manager, Development to empower, inspire, and support a talented team of engineers. You will use your technical and leadership experience to coach and mentor your team, making sure that they create and deliver products that will delight our customers.

  • Ensure the team follows best practices and meets quality and performance standards
  • Identify and address factors inhibiting the efficiency and effectiveness of development processes
  • Review technical specifications and contribute to the development of high quality, pragmatic solutions that fulfill complex business requirements
  • Plan and lead estimation for upcoming projects and determine the right people/team to tackle the project
  • Work with other leaders to publish and monitor metrics
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools, technologies, and methodologies for software development
  • Set goals and expectations for the software development team and provide guidance and feedback
  • Set employee expectations, hold yearly reviews, and guide career advancement
  • Work under a variety of pressures while utilizing excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to our core values and team environment
  • 7+ years of direct software development experience with an object-oriented or functional programming language
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in an Agile environment
  • 2+ years of supervising direct reports
  • Experience working with teams on a remote basis
  • Experience with full Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience in the payments industry
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Familiarity with Linux, Git, Docker, and AWS
  • Demonstrated professional experience with Elixir or Ruby
