About The Position

The Manager of Software Development Engineering at Thomson Reuters is responsible for providing technology leadership and overseeing a team of engineers to deliver enterprise software solutions. This role involves managing team capacity, productivity, and quality while championing the use of AI in engineering processes. The manager will also focus on employee engagement, talent development, and performance management, ensuring that the team meets its delivery commitments and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • 3+ years of Agile delivery experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Proven experience leading contingent workers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technology leadership and own decisions to deliver enterprise software solutions.
  • Lead a team of 8-12 engineers to manage capacity, productivity, and quality across multiple priorities.
  • Champion the use of AI in engineering processes and delivery.
  • Apply knowledge of software architecture to manage software design, development, and debugging according to specifications.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze key metrics to foster a culture of data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Manage risks and issues that may impact delivery commitments and set quality KPIs.
  • Own employee engagement, talent development, and performance management.
  • Manage the interviewing, hiring, and training processes for new team members.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and achievements to leadership using data-driven insights.
