About The Position

The SOAR Manager, Community Engagement and Support is a key leadership position within the State of Ohio Adversity and Resilience (SOAR) initiative. SOAR is a state of the art, multigenerational study of family/ household units that focuses on a bio-psycho-socio-environmental (BioPSE) model of the risk for, expression of, and protection from persistent distress, suicide, and overdose. There is discovery of pathways to resilience within individuals, and extending to families, social groups, educational settings, workplaces and communities The study includes a brain-based study of health of up to 1200 families and 3600 individuals. This position will direct report to the Community Engagement and Support Faculty Lead and provide routine communications to the faculty lead on status of deliverables; provides direct oversight and day to day management of the community engagement and support navigator teams to ensure the implementation and execution of the support interview processes and goals as well as the Community Awareness, Outreach and Engagement Plan across the State of Ohio. As part of this project, this position will work with SOAR Investigators and Team members as well as community stakeholders (both internally and externally) across a wide range of sectors involved in mental health and substance abuse (state agencies, community leaders, public health, justice, law enforcement etc.) to promote awareness of the SOAR project, identify support resources as well as engage in outreach efforts to encourage individuals from the community to express their concerns, wants and needs related to mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling or education accepted by the State of Ohio for licensure.
  • Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor-Clinical Supervisor (LICDC-CS), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) required.
  • Supervision designation required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with patients/participants with mental illness and/or substance use disorders is also required.
  • Requires some in-state travel.

Nice To Haves

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision for support (and diagnostic) interview staff
  • Oversight of study participant interview schedules, completion rates and goals
  • Supports emergency management routines and call in behavioral health (as eligible per clinical training)
  • Navigates local, regional, and community support resources and engages with organizations and families
  • Assists in writing and preparing manuscripts, articles, and research reports for publication and presentation
  • Assist with writing grant applications to obtain funding to support research
  • Attends assessment, intervention and comprehensive research team meetings weekly
