About The Position

The Service Planning Manager is responsible for managing, organizing, implementing, and directing the activities of the Service Planning team to achieve the Authority's service goals and objectives related to bus and rail services. This role involves developing new services and modifications, overseeing planning processes, and ensuring cost-effective service delivery while maintaining safety standards. The manager will also coordinate with industry partners and prepare executive-level reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Statistics, Geography, Decision Science, Business or Public Administration or a related field is required.
  • Six years of progressively responsible professional experience in transportation planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, for the development of service plans and service evaluation is required.
  • Proficiency using Esri ArcGIS and Excel is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and a demonstrated ability to conduct research independently and present findings in a comprehensive and clear format are required.
  • Experience in leading groups and projects, proven problem-solving skills, and computer literacy required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Remix is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the MARTA service areas and routes is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, organizes, implements, and directs the activities of the Service Planning team to meet the Authority's service goals and objectives.
  • Makes recommendations for implementation pertaining to MARTA's bus and rail service, including the addition, deletion, modification, or rerouting of bus and rail service.
  • Oversees the planning processes used to determine ridership impacts, route productivity and performance, and cost analysis, including monitoring the proper use of software utilized to capture system data.
  • Develops service plans for new service types, expansion projects, facilities, and other major initiatives.
  • Participates in coordination of transportation activities with industry partners such as the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and local governments.
  • Determines the need for, conducts and participates in public meetings and/or hearings in collaboration with other MARTA departments.
  • Develops executive-level reports and briefing materials, including presentations to Executive Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Salary Range: $77,168.00 - $115,752.00
