About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for the success of the site EHS and Sustainability strategies, programs and performance at the Piscataway Global Technology Center (NJ), Park Avenue Corporate Office (NY) and Hill’s Overland Park (KS) Corporate Office. The Manager develops, implements, and drives continuous improvement strategies in all areas of EHS ensuring all relevant federal, state, local, and company standards are met. The Manager also supports the facility’s Sustainability strategy development, implementation and communication, including key ambitions, targets and programs in alignment with EHS and Global Sustainability missions. The successful incumbent will lead by example, demonstrating our Company Values and Leadership principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety roles
  • Proficient in compliance management of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations.
  • Full knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and reporting requirements including Process Safety Management, waste characterization, and TSCA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS & Sustainability Strategy and Culture: Foster a proactive EHS culture by leading and overseeing all site EHS and Sustainability committees (e.g., Green teams, First Aid), awareness programs, campaigns, and establishing a strategic site plan for EHS compliance and performance in conjunction with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Act as a change agent by developing and implementing continuous improvement projects by creating "Well Environments” within the workplace that fosters ideas for innovation and experimentation, ultimately optimizing costs whilst maintaining compliance.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Risk Reduction: Oversee all EHS compliance (including regulatory permits, internal training, and facility equipment, raw materials), lead all internal/external EHS inspections and audits, and drive critical risk reduction actions by championing and implementing the Top 10 EHS Critical Risk actions.
  • Manage Performance, Budget, and Improvement: Develop, supervise, and report on EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), manage the departmental budget, and lead EHS continuous improvement projects to optimize costs and compliance.
  • Drive Incident Management, Auditing and Emergency Preparedness: Lead all aspects of incident investigation, inspections, audits, and reporting for safety and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and facility/government standards, including food safety, anti-bioterrorism and plant security.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Plant Emergency Preparedness Program.
  • Serve as Primary EHS Liaison and Change Agent: Act as the main point of contact for EHS issues between government agencies, corporate EHS support, and various internal partners across the three key sites.
  • Champion Site-Level Sustainability Goals: Serve as the site's Sustainability Subject Matter Expert (SME), developing and implementing local strategies and roadmaps to achieve global ambitions and targets, including the pursuit of high-efficiency, low-impact, zero waste facilities by achieving TRUE Zero Waste Certification for the site, 100% renewable electricity, LEED Zero Waste and Net Zero Carbon.
  • Minimize Environmental Impact and Waste Streams: Lead efforts to minimize all waste streams (air, noise, water, landfill) and evaluate/support key Sustainability projects (e.g., LEED Zero).
