Spring Branch Independent School District Job Description Manager - School Nutrition Services (Food Services Fund) - Elementary School Job Title: Manager - School Nutrition Services (Food Services Fund) - Elementary School Reports To: School Nutrition Field Supervisor Classification: Auxiliary (Skilled Labor) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 186 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Auxiliary Pay Plan, Pay Grade 305 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: The person in this position has the primary and specific on-site supervisory responsibility for school food service operations. Responsibilities include the supervision of a staff of employees and the implementation and coordination of food services to ensure high standards of food production and student service. This position manages the program in accordance with federal, state and local requirements. Position requires the ability to motivate, develop and coach employees, institute policy and enforce regulation, and significant computer experience or the demonstrated ability to learn. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification High school graduate or equivalent. Must complete annual USDA required training hours for Professional Standards for School Nutrition Programs. Must maintain a Local Health Department Certification. Special Knowledge/Skills Ability to comprehend and implement all state and federal child nutrition programs including but not limited to the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program. Ability to follow instructions; have a working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and food production; able to perform all kitchen duties and be familiar with point-of-sale equipment and procedures.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation of nutritionally sound menus incorporating time saving production techniques, effective merchandising, and nutrition education activities.
  • Assumes responsibility for accurately collecting and depositing cash and check receipts and maintaining control of all cash resources.
  • Provide continual training, motivation, coaching and direction to employees.
  • Assume responsibility for ordering, receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving of food according to Federal, City, and Department guidelines via automated systems. Consults Supervisor concerning personnel problems.
  • Enforce all District and Department policies and procedures
  • Plan schedules and work assignments; train, supervise and evaluate staff according to established procedures.
  • Supervises the major cleaning of all refrigerators freezers, and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals.Adheres to HACCP guidelines in preparing, serving and storing food.
  • Monitor and enforce the safety standards of the department, administer training programs, report accidents, and complete the required documentation.
  • Ensure that sanitation and district safety practices in all phases of the school food service operation meet established standard.
  • Successful cooperation with teachers, parents and administrators in all matters.
  • Ability to maintain and respond to all district and department communications in a timely manner.
  • Assure compliance in the required system of accountability as per the district and department handbook.
  • Promote student and staff customer's experience and satisfaction by marketing and serving meals in an attractive manner.
  • May require time spent outside of normal work-hours for training, teaching, or continuing education.
  • Project a professional image in appearance and personal conduct. Utilize a positive, professional, proactive, and innovate approach to work.
  • Support Child Nutrition Services with regular attendance; expected to be reliable and punctual in reporting for work.
  • Participate in cross-training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate staff according to established procedures.
