This is a fully onsite role based at our Global Central Laboratory in Highland Heights, KY through 2-26. In 3-26 this position will be at our new Covington, KY location. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and any relocation costs will be the responsibility of the candidate. Discover Impactful Work Manages the day-to-day operations for the Sample Management department. Directs staff resources to meet service level agreements. Develops, implements and maintains departmental and core processes, procedures, training materials while maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. Reviews strategic initiatives for feasibility.

Requirements

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Scientific Field (Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, etc)
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility
  • In-depth knowledge of scientific or clinical methods
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write technical documents such as SOPs, working instructions, and guidelines
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office tools and enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
  • Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds
  • Able to work in non-traditional work environments.
  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.
  • May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements typically found in healthcare or laboratory environments.
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.

Responsibilities

  • Proposes and implements process improvements within Sample Management or cross-departmentally.
  • Contributes to Sample Management strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained as required per manufacturer, coordinates and reviews validation and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensures sample chain of custody and business continuity objectives are met.
  • Oversees the following core tasks for productivity and quality – sample registration, requisition form entry, sample routing, data verification, sample storage, sample shipments to third party labs, sample aliquoting, sample deidentification, sample destruction, and other tasks as required based on business need.
  • Provides basic support for Sample Management IT processes.
  • Works with IT in troubleshooting, reporting, resolving system issues, project design, and user acceptance testing.
  • Identifies, supervises, trains, and provides performance feedback for Sample Management staff.
  • Represents Sample Management during client/audit visits.
  • Ensures compliance to regulatory requirements and industry best practices
