About The Position

As a Manager of Safety and Security in our iconic venues, you'll direct the safety and security operations to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, clients, and employees. Working closely with regulatory authorities, corporate security, and risk management teams, you'll develop, implement, and maintain the venue's safety and security strategy and emergency/contingency plans. As the ideal candidate, you'll ensure all situations are handled with dignity and respect by the safety and security team, fostering a welcoming environment that enhances the live music experience. Reports to General Manager.

Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Criminal Science, Business, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years' security or law enforcement with entertainment/hospitality and crowd control experience required
  • 2+ years' supervisory experience
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and proper use of alarms, surveillance, and recording systems relative to internal investigations
  • Working knowledge of occupational safety and fire protection, NFPA Codes, OSHA compliance, DOT compliance, property protection, regulatory training, regulatory inspections, and emergency operations
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, including regulations pertaining to pre-employment screening and internal investigations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work extended hours with some physical stress
  • State of Tennessee Unarmed Security License, to include Dallas's Law training, required
  • CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Must complete Crowd Management training upon hire
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training certification required within 180 days of hire
  • This position requires a pre-employment drug screening (4-panel: phencyclidine, cocaine, amphetamines and opiates).
  • Use all senses, including vision (near, far, and color), hearing, and smell to observe surroundings for safety hazards.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and through radio communication.
  • Stand and walk continuously and frequently climb and descend stairs and uneven terrain.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Move and react quickly, including bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing.
  • Maintain extended periods of mental focus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct operational aspects of security officers; monitor security staff to ensure compliance with company policies and all proper licenses and certifications are on file and up to date for each officer, proprietary and/or contract.
  • Support HR functions of the security team including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions. Ensure onboarding program, ongoing training, emergency drills, and guest and staff interaction expectations. Schedule training for first aid, CPR, AED, crowd management, etc. Conduct a semi-annual tabletop exercise to test venue personnel's emergency response.
  • Outline specific post assignments and duties for each officer; ensure officers are on post at the required time; notify venue leadership regarding any changes in staff schedule.
  • Perform safety and security duties, including maintaining order, checking identification and enforcing policies as outlined in defined procedures, including age- and alcohol-related policies.
  • Respond to emergencies, assist guests as necessary, administer first aid CPR/AED as needed, and coordinate emergency response, including evacuation procedures. Collaborate with local law enforcement and first responders on all emergency calls, handling of the incident and recovery afterward.
  • Meet with clients, artists, VIPs, etc. to coordinate special security needs. Oversee security needs for all shows and rental clients on the day of event. Conduct pre-shift staff meetings to communicate event-specific information.
  • Conduct safety and security audits and inspections. Oversee safety and security system evaluations and ensure proper maintenance of all systems. Ensure day-to-day monitoring of the property's safety and security systems, CCTV and fire suppression systems.
  • Prepare incident, accident and other reports that may be required. Track incident resolution, gather all related and necessary information, and document the incident details using the official computerized records management system. Investigate internal and external losses and advise on loss prevention.
  • Partner with venue leadership to prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts and conduct P&L oversight/management for the security team.
  • Serve as liaison between the venue and local, state and federal authorities and agencies, and network with industry colleagues. Develop networks to gather and assimilate local threat and intelligence information, garner assistance with investigations and prosecutions, and produce best practice recommendations.
  • Communicate and uphold all corporate standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Maintain personal integrity by abiding by and supporting the company's values and principles. Follow and support brand standard operating procedures (SOPs). Participate and respond to the annual company audits.
