About The Position

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a Manager-RN Quality/Patient Safety to manage and maintain the development of a comprehensive organizational nursing quality & patient safety improvement program. This role includes analysis & trending data and promotes a culture of safety within the organization. The manager will work closely with the CMO and CQO to develop process improvements that support the elimination of medical/health care errors and other factors contributing to unintended adverse patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years recent acute care experience.
  • At least 2 years supervisory or management experience or process improvement/quality experience.
  • Valid RN license.
  • CPHQ preferred.

  • Effective knowledge of process improvement and quality outcomes.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to focus on multiple projects.
  • Ability to effectively respond to time-sensitive issues and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail that ensures follow-through on all initiatives.
  • Mastery of desktop applications, including MS Office.
  • Knowledge of EHR.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the necessary resources to implement and sustain the nursing quality & patient safety program congruent with organizational goals.
  • Develop key partnerships with leaders in the CMO office to prioritize patient safety improvement activities.
  • Deploy nursing quality & patient safety science principles to build & maintain safe processes & systems.
  • Promote quality and patient safety accountability by educating, engaging, & training staff.
  • Apply change management principles to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Measure performance & clinical outcomes via identification of trends and data analysis.
  • Serve as a leading advocate for nursing quality & patient safety.
  • Support & sustain a transparent and just environment that promotes learning and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities for patient & family centered care.
