About The Position

A leading women’s and children’s hospital in Houston is seeking an experienced Manager RN – Labor & Delivery to oversee clinical operations for a high-volume L&D unit delivering 800+ births per month. This role provides clinical leadership, operational oversight, and staff development within an advanced obstetric setting that includes high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal services. Ideal for L&D leaders ready to elevate patient care and support a strong, collaborative team.

Requirements

3–5 years of recent (within last year) acute-care Labor & Delivery leadership experience.
Current Texas RN license.
Bachelor’s degree.
BLS certification.
NRP (within 6 months of hire).
AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification (within 6 months).
Additional clinical competency such as ACLS, perioperative or critical care exposure.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily clinical operations, staffing assignments, and patient throughput in the Labor & Delivery unit.
Monitor nursing care to ensure patient safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in performance monitoring processes.
Support budgeting, staffing efficiency, and resource utilization.
Serve as a clinical expert and mentor, supporting ongoing staff education and competency.
Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, NICU, postpartum, and other interdisciplinary partners to coordinate maternal and neonatal care.
Assist senior leadership with strategic planning, service line development, and operational improvement.
Promote a culture of teamwork, professional practice, engagement, and accountability.
