About The Position

A leading women’s and children’s hospital in Houston is seeking an experienced Manager RN – Labor & Delivery to oversee clinical operations for a high-volume L&D unit delivering 800+ births per month. This role provides clinical leadership, operational oversight, and staff development within an advanced obstetric setting that includes high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal services. Ideal for L&D leaders ready to elevate patient care and support a strong, collaborative team.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of recent (within last year) acute-care Labor & Delivery leadership experience.
  • Current Texas RN license.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • BLS certification.
  • NRP (within 6 months of hire).
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification (within 6 months).
  • Additional clinical competency such as ACLS, perioperative or critical care exposure.

  • Experience managing a high-volume Labor & Delivery unit.
  • Demonstrated clinical achievements and measurable leadership outcomes.
  • Experience partnering with Women’s Services leadership teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical operations, staffing assignments, and patient throughput in the Labor & Delivery unit.
  • Monitor nursing care to ensure patient safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in performance monitoring processes.
  • Support budgeting, staffing efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and mentor, supporting ongoing staff education and competency.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, NICU, postpartum, and other interdisciplinary partners to coordinate maternal and neonatal care.
  • Assist senior leadership with strategic planning, service line development, and operational improvement.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, professional practice, engagement, and accountability.
