About The Position

The Manager, Risk Management is a manager reporting to the Director of Legal Affairs. This role assists with developing, coordinating and organization of risk management, including the day-to-day administration of risk management activities, coordination of insurance coverages and claims management, and assessing compliance with regulatory agency laws and rules. This role operates in a hybrid capacity, with an onsite presence in St Paul, MN required 1–2 days per week. In addition, quarterly travel to metro clinics is expected to support risk rounding activities. Compensation & Benefits The annual salary range for this opportunity is $117,478/annually to $176,217/annually, with a median salary of $146,848/annually. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two years' experience working with healthcare risk management (in private practice setting or in-house).
  • Experience with general insurance claims management
  • Designated as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Fellow of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (FASHRM) is required within one year of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to assess situations, consider alternatives and recommend appropriate courses of action in a proactive manner.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Ability to work is stressful situations.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on data.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provides risk management interpretation, advice, and representation to Gillette and its affiliate organizations.
  • Provides risk management counsel and guidance across the organization to ensure maximum protection of Gillette.
  • Provides on-call assistance for urgent risk situations.
  • Performs organization wide risk assessments.
  • Assists Quality and Security with timely and thorough investigations of patient, visitor, and security related incidents with documentation of findings.
  • Works with Quality to oversee confidentiality of all risk management records, reports and information.
  • Acts as liaison and consultant for other departments and outside sources concerning the risk management program.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and management of the claims reporting system.
  • Conducts complex systems analyses to uncover and identify patterns that could result in compensable events.
  • Follows up on all regulatory and insurance survey report recommendations or deficiencies.
  • Researches, writes and implements departmental and facility policies, procedures, waivers and releases that affect liability exposures and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for review, analysis, and ongoing administrative management of Gillette’s corporate insurance program.
  • Works with Gillette’s insurance broker to manage Gillette’s insurance program.
  • Provides recommendations to management regarding Gillette’s insurance program.
  • Coordinates and manages liability claims.
  • Responds to claims or issues to facilitate settlement at an early stage.
  • Works to resolve complaints and issues before they develop into liability claims.
  • Assists with negotiating settlements of small claims within administrative authority, including the development, implementation and management of alternative or early resolution programs.
  • Assist with legal oversight of the Workers’ Compensation Program for the organization.
  • Engages with Human Resources to manage the third-party administrator.
  • Engages with Human Resources to manage complex workers’ compensation claims to limit risk to the organization.
  • Engages with outside legal counsel as necessary.
  • Educates staff through client conferences, training sessions and oral presentations.
  • Advises on new developments in risk management.
  • Proactively identifies problem areas for the organization to minimize risks.
  • Develops and presents risks management educational programs in compliance with risk management related standards with the clear objective of enhancing and promoting patient safety, quality of care, and minimizing loss to the organization.
