About The Position

The Manager of Revenue Cycle for the Surgery Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the professional billing revenue cycle processes. This role involves managing charge reconciliation, addressing billing and denial issues, and identifying opportunities for revenue cycle improvement. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure compliance, optimize financial performance, and enhance operational efficiency within the department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Management, Healthcare, or related field preferred.
  • 8-10 years of related work experience in medical billing, reimbursement, revenue cycle functions, or related areas.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze revenue cycle performance reports to monitor KPIs and physician productivity metrics.
  • Hold monthly meetings with department divisions to review revenue cycle performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage the Department of Surgery's charge reconciliation process, including generating and reviewing relevant reports.
  • Identify root causes and improvement opportunities related to initial professional denials and avoidable denial write-offs.
  • Collaborate with the Coding Compliance Manager to ensure billing and coding compliance and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Work with the Executive Director of Operations to implement process improvements for front-end processes.
  • Assist with vendor management and oversight for third-party vendors to optimize revenue cycle functions.
  • Ensure compliance with HMFP Enterprise Revenue Cycle policies and procedures.
  • Define and implement processes for provider onboarding, credentialing, and enrollment functions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve all functions and processes within the revenue cycle.
  • Manage and participate in department-specific revenue cycle projects.
  • Participate in HMFP Enterprise Revenue Cycle Improvement initiatives to reduce days in AR and charge lag.
  • Address payer payment issues and ensure timely and accurate payments based on contracted rates.
  • Serve as the revenue cycle subject matter expert and liaison to department providers and leadership.
  • Resolve patient complaints and billing issues as needed.
  • Develop and implement new processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Provide training and education on billing processes to department staff.
