About The Position

This management position will play an essential role in providing technical support and expertise to the Research Lab and Clinical Trial Specialists in the preparation and procurement of human research materials in coordination with appropriate clinical trials and research studies. This position will be responsible for overseeing the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of tissue samples for research purposes and will adhere to Tennessee Oncology mission, vision and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health or science related field required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certification in clinical research coordination from ACRP or SOCRA preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FDA Code of Federal Regulation and GCP.
  • Strong computer skills especially with Excel and Word spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposed protocols for feasibility and create new processes as necessary.
  • Gather information pertaining to tissue from new protocols and document into appropriate study review assignments.
  • Create SOPs and training documents to satisfy sponsor protocol specifications.
  • Attend sponsor Site Initiation Visits to review tissue requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing protocol and internal budgets.
  • Oversee scheduling of fresh tissue biopsies and coordinate with processing lab.
  • Monitor and update the tissue tracking grid for specimen status.
  • Schedule and manage payroll of the Research tissue team.
  • Assist during dissections or surgery as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory and surgical areas with proper aseptic techniques.
  • Travel to locations for specimen collection and obtain specimens.
  • Label, receive, and process samples for clinical trials per protocol guidelines.
  • Request, receive, and return tissue samples from outside pathology facilities.
  • Record all data in specified forms per clinical trial accurately.
  • Ship or store samples as per protocol before the end of the shift.
  • Manage inventory of clinical trials supplies and departmental supplies.
  • Participate in compliance efforts for clinical trials and laboratory processes.
  • Communicate with Clinical Trials Specialists and staff regarding specimen collection.
  • Assist in training new team members in tissue sample processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
