About The Position

The Manager-Research Lab at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the research laboratory. This includes overseeing workload, quality assurance/quality control activities, maintaining research data records, and supervising and training research personnel. The role also provides technical expertise and support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Two (2) years of related experience.
• Work experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement.

Responsibilities

• Manage equipment use and scheduling for all users; supervise and/or perform equipment maintenance and operations functions.
• Collect and analyze research data and maintain records of experimental procedures; use advanced statistical and scientific programs to process experimental data.
• Train and supervise research lab personnel in established research procedures.
• Provide training on new equipment and procedures.
• Responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of all lab related research activities and personnel.
• Promote teamwork.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring new lab research personnel.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement new research procedures, techniques and assays.
• Collaborate with investigators to implement new procedures and methodologies.
• Work with users and principal investigators on design, analysis, applications, and reporting of research projects.
• Maintain laboratory quality assurance, quality control procedures and accept responsibility for the lab areas audit performance.
• Oversee and implement safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
