About The Position

We are looking for an Analyst to join our Investment & Platform Oversight (IPO) team! The IPO team is responsible for investment due diligence and manager oversight across Principal's global mutual fund, collective investment trust, UCIT and life insurance separate account platforms. The Analyst role is multi-faceted, though the primary responsibility is to assist with IPO's due diligence and reporting accountabilities. This includes participation in the monitoring and evaluation of internal and external investment managers and leading the team's efforts in the production and efficient use of data via FactSet and Morningstar Direct, third-party analytical tools. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business or related field, preferably with a major in finance or economics
  • Passion for the capital markets, with an understanding of investment vehicles (mutual funds, ETFs, sub-advisory, etc) and knowledge of current economic and financial market conditions
  • Ability to efficiently research, compile, and analyze information in a deadline driven environment
  • Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to learn and strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative and adaptive in a work environment that is both independent and team based, to execute across a wide spectrum of accountabilities

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of due diligence, manager research and/or investment analytical experience
  • Software aptitude and literacy, particularly with Excel, Word and PowerPoint, experience with FactSet and Morningstar Direct
  • Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Track record of motivated work approach and demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Career aspirations or in-pursuit of becoming a CFA charter holder
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Research and compile qualitative and quantitative information, conduct investment performance and risk analysis
  • Prepare and execute the team's quarterly reporting accountabilities for internal partners and governance boards
  • Monitor investment portfolios daily to ensure compliance with the Investment Guidelines
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of existing tools that supports the team's investment manager research functions
  • Lead projects, process reviews and/or system enhancements that support investment oversight initiatives
  • Contribute to investment analysis reviews and investment manager dashboards / scorecards
  • Establish relationships with and respond to data requests from internal partners
