About The Position

Provides management, oversight and guidance to the Research Operations Finance personnel, who perform the majority of the day-to-day tasks related to sponsored projects administration. Coordinates with staff and management to establish and maintain policies and procedures. Handles specific grants, contracts and audit issues and participates in the development of enhanced research policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, accounting, ?nance or a related ?eld, or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in research accounting.
  • Expert knowledge of federal regulations relating to grants, contracts, and research compliance a well as non-federal sponsored research.
  • Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of administrative requirements attached to the various sources of sponsored funds.
  • Experience working with research administration software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Information management, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations.
  • Skills in con?ict management techniques.
  • Advanced skills in strategy development, systems planning, and change management.
  • Technological pro?ciency including email, calendars, databases, and O?ce suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Certi?ed Financial Research Administrator and/or Masters within Accounting, Finance, or Research Administration preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Research Operations Finance personnel, primarily within Research Finance.
  • Selects and Trains Supports the teams’ professional development.
  • Provides staff coverage as need.
  • Facilitates quality assurance for team and assists sta? with priority-setting.
  • Motivates staff to achieve peak productivity and Provides regular and constructive feedback on performance. Counsels individuals for performance improvement.
  • Ensures Cost Principles compliance, as well as adherence to Cost Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Standards.
  • Assists in day-to-day research accounting duties when needed.
  • Works with peers and leadership to develop and implement policies and procedures related to research accounting; focuses on the continuing implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Post-Award Administration for all month-end and ?scal year-end close-out processes.
  • Assists with coordination of the annual Uniform Guidance Provides assistance in the identi?cation and/or resolution of audit problems, as necessary.
  • Assists with complex problem solving around speci?c grants and contracts costing issues.
  • Facilitates partnership across the D-H research community and Research Operations Finance.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
