About The Position

This role is responsible for driving the data strategy for the Private Equity practice including contract management, vendor selection and implementation. It also involves close collaboration with RDS leadership to support training and knowledge capture related to external sources. Key internal stakeholders include Practice Leadership, RDS affiliates (including People Leaders and Experts, and PPK affiliates. The role involves leading specialized, complex research efforts, managing projects, and asset building. It requires deep expertise of the Private Equity industry - covering drivers, trends, structure, and regulatory considerations, and data - with the ability to communicate insights effectively to the practice areas and case teams. The individual will also facilitate communication across practice teams, RDS, and end-users to proactively address issues. They may participate in client meetings to provide insights into industry data sources and methodologies. Lead practice content (database vendor) evaluation, resource development activities and implementation. Lead development of a subject-specific portfolio of data sources including finding, evaluating, and planning for the adoption of new and/or replacement sources Plan and lead asset building projects to enhance, synthesize and/or present data more efficiently. Manage knowledge capture programs for the practice area such as IRIS pages, source guides, and topic guides. Function as a global point of contact for an area of specialization. Operate independently and provide knowledge, advice, subject matter, and source expertise to RDS, case teams, PPK and clients. Initiate and plan meetings with practice leadership, Knowledge Specialists and RDS Specialists to develop and review practice projects and research support. With Practice People Leaders and Experts, develop and present training materials for practice sources and provide research skills training. Facilitate practice and customer communication to resolve issues. Proactively work with PPK to build a knowledge sharing community of internal content Regularly attend practice meetings, industry events, and/or topical external conferences Regularly participate in skill development activities, both external and internal Lead the global and/or regional RDS Practice team in establishing global standards and solutions. Function as an idea generator-driving innovation and thought leadership. Propose and champion strategic initiatives for RDS and the Practice Conduct research for case teams, practices, and client development using expert knowledge of industry sources. Provide filtered and synthesized research results. Proactively work with case teams to understand the context of the case and case information needs and provide specialized knowledge of industry information to jump-start case teams exploring industries where they have no prior experience.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Information Science or MBA preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 8 or more years of research experience
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor/contracts management is a must
  • Experience in Consulting, financial services, private equity, or other business setting; knowledge of the private equity industry is highly valuable.
  • Strong analytical and business skills
  • Strong project management skills, and training and presentation skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and innovative orientation
  • Experience in building strong customer relationships
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Fluent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage by influence in a matrix organization

Responsibilities

  • Vendor Management, data strategy and budgeting for Practice Area
  • Research for case teams, client development, IP and Practice Areas
  • Coaching practice affiliates in sectors of specialization
  • Asset Creation includes innovation, product development, topic and vendor guides published to IRIS/Internal KM Systems
  • Practice communication including liaising with Global Practice Head, Regional practice stakeholders and PEG vertical leaders
