The Audit Bureau conducts informative and meaningful audits, independent assessments, and objective reviews to examine and report on City operations and services. The Bureau strives to improve the City’s financial position, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure that services are provided efficiently, effectively and equitably. By reporting our findings to City officials, oversight bodies and the public, we increase transparency and accountability, promote integrity, and strengthen public trust. Under the direction of the senior management, the Manager of Research & Analysis supervises a team of professional staff responsible for two principle streams of work: 1) reviewing and vetting complaints/concerns/issues received from diverse sources, and 2) for conducting in depth reviews, analysis and/or investigations which result in detailed and persuasive reports of findings. Work stream 1 is intended to identify allegations warranting more in-depth work within in the Office of the Comptroller, referral to external agencies, or closure without further action needed. Work stream 2 results in the collection and analysis of facts and data, written summaries/letters/reports of conclusions, evidence and recommendations.
