About The Position

The Nurse Manager is a registered nurse with twenty-four hour (24) - Seven (7) day /week, responsibility for all operational aspects of their respective unit. The position encompasses human resource management, including recommending sufficient number of qualified and competent personnel to provide care; financial and clinical management, and the provision and development of professional leadership. The Nurse Manager establishes departmental goals and objectives that ensure high quality, cost-effective patient care, while working collaboratively to integrate the goals of their department with those at Kingwood Medical Center. The philosophy of continuous quality improvement (CQI) is integrated by the Nurse Manager into all ongoing operations and activities of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, BSN preferred.
  • If Bachelor's degree is missing, must be enrolled in a BSN program within first 6 months of hire date and to complete BSN program within 2 years (24 months) of enrollment in the BSN program.
  • Two (2) years of RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.
  • Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.
  • Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Prioritizes activities of self based on demands for service.
  • Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.
  • Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Practices cost-efficiently.
  • Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards.
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.
  • Assists with the development of service specific policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develops unit specific policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation.
  • Assumes responsibility to interview potential employees, recommend for hire, and suspend for cause.
  • Assumes responsibility to address issues of concern with staff members, including verbal and/or written counseling for poor performance and/or behavior.
