About The Position

Responsible to the Manager, Senior, Operations & Compliance, NR for all matters pertaining to the Project, including the maintenance, administration and operation of its facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required or the ability to obtain in eight years .
  • Degree in chemistry, biology, business or engineering preferred.
  • 5 years management experience; 5 plus years of leadership experience.
  • Five years of progressive experience in water/wastewater treatment is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in management of water/wastewater facility.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class B Wastewater License required, Class A License preferred.
  • Class A water/wastewater license or ability to obtain within 3 years.
  • Must possess knowledge of all plant processes to effectively operate facility.
  • Should possess knowledge of all equipment relating to the operation of the treatment process.
  • Administrative ability to plan, organize and supervise the Project's work force and its various programs is essential.
  • Good public relations skills needed.
  • Mathematical skills to prepare budget and interpret technical data relating to the treatment process are essential.
  • Individual must be able to communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and controls the Project's annual budget. Reviews reports on plant operation and staff performance in order to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Supervises laboratory tests and analyzes their results. Responsible for operating and maintaining the facilities in strict compliance with permit limitations in a cost effective manner.
  • Performs assigned duties in accordance with established Authority policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the development of plans for improvement or enlargement of the Project.
  • Maintains effective communications with customer cities, project personnel and Northern Region Management.
  • Directly and indirectly supervises a small staff of exempt and non-exempt employees to include hiring, scheduling and performance evaluation.
  • Ensures the proper safety practices and procedures are observed and enforced.
  • Responds to serious malfunctions or disruptions of the operation of the Projects or collection systems and other emergencies at any time of day or night related to industrial user discharge or chemical, wastewater, and water spills and/or environmental mitigation projects.
  • Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.
