The Manager of Recovery at Broadview FCU is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the specialty collection unit. This role involves supervising the collections department staff, ensuring effective follow-up on delinquent borrowers, and implementing policies to minimize loan losses. The manager will also maintain compliance with relevant regulations and laws while fostering a supportive environment for both employees and members.

  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures to control delinquency and limit loan losses.
  • Set specific goals for the staff and department and obtain staff buy-in towards achievement of these goals.
  • Supervise department staff and ensure competent collection efforts are performed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current bankruptcy rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and file bankruptcy documents such as proof of claims and reaffirmations.
  • Attend court hearings when necessary.
  • Stay updated with CFPB regulations regarding collection and foreclosure matters through seminars and webinars.
  • Prepare and file foreclosure documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other relevant regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae guidelines.
  • Attend settlement conferences and foreclosure sales when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on asset quality and delinquency statistics.
  • Prepare reports for the Vice President's review.
  • Assist in conducting yearly audits of collection vendors.
  • Approve Loss Mitigation department invoices.
  • Review and sign summons and complaints from collection attorneys.
  • Handle escalated calls and member complaints.
  • Prepare responses to complaints from regulatory bodies and other outlets.
  • Develop and adhere to the department's yearly operating budget.
  • Assist with department efficiencies, system upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Maintain relationships with high-priority vendors for process efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality member service.
  • Conduct staff reviews and provide mentoring and coaching to department staff.
  • Approve payroll and time off requests.
  • Assist the Vice President as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in the financial services industry.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years' experience as a manager.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Bilingual individuals fluent in a second language in addition to English are highly encouraged to apply.
