About The Position

The Science and Engineering Information Systems (SEIS) Group (9350) is looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic leader to lead the R&D Systems Architecture department (9354). This department is responsible for designing, architecting, and developing software systems and solutions for mission programs across Sandia and the Nuclear Security Enterprise. This department specializes in Enterprise Architecture, Software Architecture, Integrated Digital Enterprise Services and Governance. This manager will work within an outstanding team of managers to: Realize and execute the vision for a broad portfolio of Nuclear Deterrence (ND) information systems, aligned to Sandia strategic objectives and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)/ Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) federal objectives Manage program and execution for the complete lifecycle of critical information systems. Lead a team of staff to deliver on commitments and help transform the ND mission towards digital engineering Foster effective and long-lasting partnerships with ND leadership at Sandia and the NNSA, and peer Cybersecurity and IT leaders within Sandia Establish research areas that improve software development efficiencies, ND software assurance (quality and security), and ND business The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite at least 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and eight (8) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
  • An active DOE Q Level clearance required to start and the ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 14/15 access

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • A graduate degree in science or engineering (MS or Ph.D.)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills in developing trusting relationships with peers, staff, management, customers, and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the development and delivery of presentations, proposals, reports and documentation
  • Experience in digital transformation initiatives with an emphasis on multivendor cloud-based architectures
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture or Software Architecture
  • Experience working on national security programs, including classified information
  • Demonstrated successful program/project management and execution, including delivery of large, complex systems while meeting cost, schedule, and performance
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, from vision and architecture through development and support in a production environment for a significant user base
  • ND domain experience at Sandia, NSE sites, and/or NNSA, including knowledge of the PRIDE program
  • Experience working on NSE level initiatives in PRIDE or the Enterprise Secure Network (ESN), to include the ESN Hub and Joint Unclassified Cloud Environment
  • Experience guiding agile teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Hands-on experience modernizing digital engineering platforms or large-scale enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated ability to execute a strategic vision, inspiring others
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively within and across organizations, with a track record of successful business development and building trusted relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams, creating a positive and high-trust teaming environment
