About The Position

PlanSource is looking for a Manager, Quality Engineering to lead and evolve our Quality Portfolio Ownership model while remaining a hands-on contributor as a SDET within an AI-first engineering strategy. This role balances people leadership, quality strategy, and direct technical execution to enable consistent, high-quality delivery across multiple product portfolios. You will manage and develop a small team of US-based Quality Engineers who operate as portfolio-level automation and quality owners, and you will partner closely with offshore QA leadership to ensure consistent standards and execution globally.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years in QA and test automation; formal people management experience required.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Python, Pytest, Selenium (or equivalent) and scalable automation design.
  • CI/CD integration experience (GitLab/Jenkins).
  • Experience designing and applying AI-assisted approaches to improve quality, coverage, and delivery confidence.
  • Proven ability to coach engineers across skill levels.
  • Strong judgment balancing speed, risk, and quality; clear communicator with Product and Engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop US based Quality Engineers with clear accountability for portfolio level quality ownership, risk based testing and release readiness, and automation and AI first execution.
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce consistent QA operating standards and best-practices across global teams.
  • Own staffing, coverage planning, onboarding, and performance management for the US based Quality team.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders to proactively reduce regression risk and improve release confidence.
  • Monitor pipeline signals, production incidents, and defect trends to guide ongoing quality improvements.
  • Remain hands on as a SDET, focusing on critical workflows, high risk functional areas, and shared automation frameworks and utilities.
  • Manage and maintain highly-visible, customer-facing production automation suites.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for priority scenarios with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and CI/CD integration.
  • Contribute to test framework evolution, lead root cause analysis for significant production defects, closing identified automation gaps.
  • Design and implement scalable AI enabled quality capabilities that improve risk discovery, test design, automation health, defect prevention, and learning from production.
  • Build and iterate on AI assisted workflows integrated into Jira/ATDD, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation and reporting systems.
  • Establish guardrails for responsible AI usage, ensuring AI augments engineering judgment and that outputs are reviewed and owned.
  • Coach QA Engineers and SDETs on using AI to generate high value test scenarios, manage ambiguity, and focus human effort where it has the highest impact.
  • Measure the effectiveness of AI driven quality practices using outcome based signals such as escaped defects, coverage of high risk paths, feedback cycle time, and automation maintenance cost.

Benefits

  • Great benefits package, including a full suite of health benefits, a generous 401(k) Plan, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, a strong rewards and recognition program, and a focus on mental health and well-being.
  • An inclusive environment with Employee Resource Groups to join, volunteering days and the ability to donate to organizations of your choice through our recognition platform.
  • The opportunity to work for a growing, established technology company, but work side-by-side with a small, dynamic team of talented professionals.
  • Fast-paced environment with big goals and the opportunity to make a big impact.
