About The Position

The position involves overseeing the development and implementation of quality improvement and organizational excellence plans, focusing on patient safety, accreditation, and regulatory compliance. The role requires directing departmental activities and staff to ensure efficiency and adherence to quality objectives while leading process improvement projects that promote operational excellence and reduce risks associated with patient safety.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing.
  • Current state license as a registered nurse.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or other Patient Safety training/certification desired within 12 months of hire.
  • Two years of healthcare-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, or healthcare-related field.
  • Four or more years of healthcare experience, preferably in patient safety and/or healthcare risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulations including CMS/MDCH, OSHA, and other accreditation requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all patient safety initiatives, including prevention, detection, and correction of patient safety events.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Patient Safety and Quality Annual Goals aligned with the McLaren Strategic Plan.
  • Develop QAPI programs for home health and hospice service lines.
  • Identify and manage patient safety events, aggregating adverse trends for presentation to leadership.
  • Conduct initial investigations of potential patient safety events and provide recommendations.
  • Facilitate the Root Cause Analysis process in collaboration with CMO & CNO.
  • Develop and present educational programs on quality and patient safety.
  • Provide risk and patient safety orientation to newly hired management employees.
  • Act as a resource for the disclosure process and learnings.
  • Direct and lead process improvement projects to achieve measurable change.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of quality improvement plans in compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Develop programs that produce measurable improvements in patient safety processes.
  • Serve as a liaison to ensure clinical services meet safety standards established by regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate and educate leadership and staff on quality and patient safety initiatives.
