About The Position

Use Your Power for Purpose The Quality Control Microbiology group is seeking a highly motivated candidate to provide oversight and support to a team that supports the environmental and utility monitoring program non-testing and non-sampling activities. The manager will be responsible for environmental/utility investigations and periodic trend reports of the associated data, review/approval of investigations, change controls, commitments and documents, and data review and approval activities. Responsibilities also include ensuring audit readiness and compliance to procedures, Pfizer Quality Standards, and regulatory requirements. The manager will provide leadership and expertise for areas of oversight and for general QC and microbiology elements in both internal and external audits. The candidate will lead and develop their team, and work with the team to support continuous improvement initiatives. What You Will Achieve In this role, you will: Provide leadership and oversight to a team of analysts that supports authoring, review and approval of Environmental Monitoring (EM) and Utilities investigations, CAPAs and change controls within required timelines Review and approval of GMP documentation such as data, reports, procedures Coach, mentor and develop direct reports Ensure alignment to all regulations and Pfizer Quality Standards related to area of oversight Responsible to represent QCM in internal and external audits Promote and deliver continuous improvement both in area of oversight and in the QCM department and Quality Organization Represent the area in meetings and audits and manage departmental metrics to achieve operational effectiveness Develop and support a continuous improvement culture and oversee/guide staff on CI tools. Collaborate with cross and site functional areas and customers to support site goals, objectives, and timelines, maintain alignment with industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR as associate's degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience with environmental monitoring and utility monitoring programs and regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive knowledge of GMP compliance requirements for Quality Control Laboratories
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, collaboration, attention to detail, project management, communication skills (written and oral) and performance management
  • Successful track record of continuous improvement, development and/or implementation of best practices in Quality Control laboratories.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in the application of statistical tools, root cause analysis, and/or six sigma methodologies
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and utility monitoring programs and regulations
  • Ability to manage projects and ongoing work activities of moderate complexity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster teamwork and colleague development
  • Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity.
  • Demonstrated curiosity for exploring how these tools can improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
